We are excited to announce our first trip to Black Canyon of the Gunnison! The festivities home base will be south rim campground for 2 nights. The sites are located right inside the national park. The dates are Friday May 16th - Sunday May 18th. There are two ticket options. One for just the camping weekend $20 and one including food (3 Meals) on Saturday $49.99.
Each site can hold up to 7 people max and two cars max. They are still in the FF period mid May. So some of us will go early on Friday to grab some sites. We will put everyone in a Group Me a couple weeks before the trip with all the details and to coordinate car pools. We will send out the full itinerary as well.
Check in starts 11:00 AM Friday May 16th and check out by Sunday May 18th 11:00 AM. We will have campfires each night as long as there are no burn bans. The stars are supposed to be incredible here for stargazing purposes and photography. We will do some hiking Saturday morning for sure. I will serve up some breakfast burritos and coffee on Saturday morning. Saturday lunch some sandwich supplies cheeses, meats, snacks, and wine. For dinner chili dogs with all the fixings, green beans, and chips for anyone that bought the food ticket.
Each site is $40 cash for 2 nights per site. We can have up to 8 people and 2 cars per site. So we can start grabbing sites as people arrive, but dont worry about paying upon arrival, I'll bring enough cash to pay for everyones camp fee to make it easier so you don't have to split amongst each other.
Communication - I will send out details in a mass email a month ahead of time. Double check your spam folder if you haven't received one. I will add a link to put everyone in a group chat so we can all communicate and coordinate rides.
Camping Gear If you don't have a tent/gear, don't fret. We should be able to find you a tent to share! We will have to share tents anyways as we cant fit 130 single tents on these group sites.
Restroom Pit Toilets
Pets are welcome in the campground, however, pets must not be left unattended. Please keep pets leashed and under control at all times, and clean up after them. Note pets are not allowed in National Parks.
FYI Weed is not legal on federal lands and park rangers can be sticklers/ticket.
Please do not bring firewood from outside, Help protect our public lands by buying local firewood in or near your destination campground. Firewood can spread insect pests and diseases that kill native trees.
Put away all food/trash in locked cars there are potential visitors in the campground area. Safeguard yourselves and the animals by storing all food and aromatic items in the bearproof lockers or in your cars. Try to minimize food odors in your site. Do not leave food, coolers, or trash in unattended sites.
CANCELLATIONS - Any cancellations will incur a $5.00 restocking fee. We will give refunds up to 7 days prior to the event minus restocking fee. Any cancellations under 7 days notification will not receive any refunds!! No Exceptions!
